Proton Exchange Membrane for Flow Battery
1. Description
Yuntian Flow Battery Proton Exchange Membrane (YTM8341 series) is a proton exchange membrane
made from perfluorosulfonic acid resin. It exhibits selective permeability, allowing specific types of ions
to pass through while blocking others. This membrane is widely applicable in various fields such as
Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries (VRFB) and Iron-Chromium Flow Batteries. Flow batteries are
characterized by high safety, cost-effectiveness, long lifespan, and environmental friendliness, making
ion-conducting membranes one of the key materials with excellent application prospects.
The YTM8341 series membrane is a highly selective, low-impedance, long-life proton membrane based
on chemically stable acid (H+) form of long-chain perfluorosulfonic acid resin. It features a small
thickness, high strength, low swelling, high dimensional stability, and excellent durability.
As shown in Figure 1, the YTM8341 series membrane is tightly adhered to the backing film on the upper
surface; this composite material is wound on a standard 3-inch plastic roll core, with the backing film on
the core side.
The backing film helps to transport the membrane into automated manufacturing processes and
protects it from environmental impacts during intermediate handling and processing. Additionally, the
backing film eliminates rapid changes in membrane moisture content and stabilizes membrane
dimensions when removed from the roll.
2. YTM8341H50 Membrane Characteristics
1. Measurement conditions are for membranes at 23 °C, 50% RH.
2. If specified, MD - machine direction, TD - transverse. The conditioned state of the membrane is given.
3. Ordering and Packaging Information
Standard Roll Sizes:
- Width: The standard width is 29.5 inches (750 mm); other widths ranging from
200 mm to 750 mm can be customized upon request.
- Length: The standard length is 100 m, with an intermediate length of 50 m.
Special lengths can be provided.
For non-standard widths, the minimum order quantity is 100 m². For non-standard
lengths less than 50 m, additional cutting fees may apply. Please contact Yuntian's sales
service for detailed information and supply conditions. Custom sizes of rolls can also be
ordered according to non-standard width requirements
The rolls are shipped with the assurance that they will arrive intact. However, variations
in thickness and density may occur. Any adjustments made to the roll size may result in
changes to the membrane's performance.
